Jola ("we", "us", "our") operates the Jola dating app and linkupzw.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how you can control it. By creating an account you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account info: name, email or phone number, date of birth, gender, and password (or your Google/Facebook account ID if you sign in that way).
• Profile info: photos, bio, interests, location, and discovery preferences you choose to share.
• Usage data: swipes, likes, matches, and messages between you and other users.
• Payment data: when you subscribe to Gold, your mobile money number and transaction reference are shared with our payment processor, Paynow. We never see or store your full payment credentials.
• Device/technical data: IP address, browser type, and basic app diagnostics.

2. How we use your information

• To create and operate your profile and show you to other users
• To power matching, swiping, and messaging
• To process Gold subscription payments
• To keep the platform safe (detecting abuse, fake accounts, and policy violations)
• To communicate with you about your account or support requests

3. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Other users — your profile, photos, and bio are visible to people you're shown to in discovery; messages are visible only to you and your match.
• Supabase — our database and authentication provider, which stores your account and profile data securely.
• Paynow — our payment processor for Gold subscriptions (mobile money payments).
• Google / Facebook — if you choose to sign in with one of these, they share your basic profile info (name, email, profile picture) with us as authorized by you during login.
• Law enforcement or regulators, only where required by law.

4. Your rights & choices

• You can edit your profile details and photos at any time from the app.
• You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and all associated data — see our Data Deletion page.
• You can revoke Google/Facebook login access from your Google/Facebook account settings at any time.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, photos, matches, and messages within 30 days, except where we're legally required to retain limited records (e.g. payment records for tax/audit purposes).

6. Age requirement

Jola is only for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, access controls, and authenticated APIs) to protect your data. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app.
